Springfield is the state capital of Illinois and the second-largest city in the state. Located close to the Sangamon River and Lake Springfield, it is a beautiful city, perhaps best known historically for being the home of Abraham Lincoln, who spent 24 years living there. Beyond being known as Lincoln’s home, however, it’s also a city known for friendly people, a smaller, yet thriving LGBTQ community and plenty to see and do.
