About Auckland
The beautiful water bound city we call Auckland is often referred to as “the City of Sails” by locals which becomes a nickname with no need of an explanation after a second of arriving in the city. If you love sailing you already have a one up advantage for picking up locals. Being the largest city in all of New Zealand with a little over 1 million people and 200,00 being pacific islanders. The Business district in Auckland is the county's financial center and due to the emphasis the city puts on finance, commerce, tourism, etc it's considered to be a Beta World City. If Aukland doesn't already sound like an amazing place then it’s greatness can be verified by the fact that the city often gets ranked as one of the most livable cities in the world and that the Global livability ranking done by the the economist intelligence unit ranked auckland number 8. For all the outdoorsy travelers make sure to catch the unique sight of the black sand beaches. With just a short ferry ride you can get to Rangitoto Island where you will find the most amazing volcano and can take hikes while observing the wildlife. Another site whose beauty will leave you mind blown is the Waiheke island where you will find vineyards, olive groves, farms, and beaches; the best part is this sightseeing can be done all while you sip on some fresh quality wine.
