Every summer Cologne transforms into one big celebration of queer life as Cologne Pride returns. In 2025 the festival stretches over two weeks of concerts, parties and activism. The festivities kick off on June 28 with the open‑air Rainbow Festival at Fühlinger See where more than 20 artists perform on a lakeside stage. After a quiet start the pace picks up as downtown squares around Heumarkt, Gürzenich and Alter Markt are taken over from July 4 through July 6 for the CSD Street Festival. There you can wander among food stalls, community stands and dance floors while DJs and bands play from morning to late night. The atmosphere is part protest, part party and wholly welcoming – people of all ages and identities come together to celebrate diversity and demand equal rights. On the evening of July 4 the PRIDE NOW Opening Party at Wolkenburg combines throwback hits, camp performances and a special appearance by The Weather Girls. Across town the Sissy that Rainbow Party takes over Odoniens industrial space with techno and queer pop until sunrise. Visitors also flock to numerous other bar crawls and club nights around the old town. The highlight of Cologne Pride always falls on the last day. On July 6 the CSD demonstration parade weaves through the streets, attracting floats from social groups, companies and activists from across Europe. Spectators line the route waving flags and cheering as the procession makes its way to the centre, turning the city into a sea of colour and slogans. Around the official programme you'll find art exhibitions, political discussions and workshops organised by local organisations. Restaurants and shops decorate their windows with rainbow motifs and there are plenty of spaces where families, youth and allies can feel comfortable. As one of Europe’s largest lgbtq+Q+ events the festival reportedly draws more than one million visitors every year. For this reason accommodation sells out quickly, so it’s wise to book hotels and train tickets early. Timetables and line‑ups can change at short notice, so keep an eye on the official Cologne Pride channels for the latest updates. Whether you come for the protest march, the street parties or simply to soak up the energy, Cologne Pride 2025 promises to be a memorable weekend and a powerful reminder that diversity is something to be celebrated.
