CSD Stuttgart, or Stuttgart Pride, is an annual celebration of the lgbtq+Q+ community that fills Germany's Baden-Württemberg capital with color, activism and culture. The event traces its roots to the global Christopher Street Day movement that commemorates the Stonewall riots of 1969. Over the decades it has grown into one of Germany's most politically significant prides, combining a festive atmosphere with a clear call for equality.

In 2025 the festival runs over two weeks of cultural programming from 11 July to 27 July, culminating in a massive demonstration and street festival on Saturday 26 July. Throughout the cultural weeks there are panel discussions, film screenings, concerts and exhibitions dealing with queer history, human rights and contemporary issues. Local groups host workshops and events in venues across Stuttgart, encouraging dialogue and visibility. A highlight of the early program is the reception at the town hall, where civic leaders and activists discuss the current year’s motto, “Never be silent again! Loud for freedom, strong for diversity,” underscoring that pride is both celebration and protest.

On the main weekend thousands of participants gather for the parade. The demonstration forms up in Rotebühlstraße at mid‑morning and steps off early afternoon, winding through Rotebühlplatz, Eberhardstraße, Marktplatz and Münzstraße to Schlossplatz. Floats representing community organizations, sports clubs, local businesses and political parties are joined by drummers, drag performers and marching bands. Spectators lining the streets cheer as banners call for lgbtq+Q+ rights and intersectional solidarity. At Schlossplatz the march ends with speeches from activists and politicians, and the energy spills over into the “Hocketse” – a two‑day street festival across Marktplatz, Schillerplatz and adjacent lanes. Bars and food trucks set up temporary stalls, stages host live music and DJ sets, and information booths offer resources for visitors and allies. The festival regularly draws more than 200,000 people and is an important tourist attraction as well as a statement of pride.

Stuttgart Pride is organized by IG CSD Stuttgart e.V., a non‑profit association that works year‑round to promote equality and diversity. Its volunteer team coordinates the cultural weeks, supports community projects and advocates for queer rights at local and national levels. The organization emphasises accessibility, inviting people with disabilities to take part in the march and providing interpretation services and viewing areas. Whether you join the parade, attend a talk or simply enjoy the street party, CSD Stuttgart offers a welcoming space to stand up for love, freedom and equal rights.
