DC Black Pride is a celebration that honors the vibrant cultural heritage and diverse community of Black lgbtq+Q+ individuals in Washington, D.C. And the surrounding areas.

Established back in 1991 DC Black Pride holds the distinction of being one of the Black Pride festivals in the United States. Typically taking place during the week of May coinciding with Memorial Day weekend this event spans several days and encompasses a wide range of activities. These include engaging panel discussions, enlightening workshops, spirited parties, an inspiring film festival captivating poetry readings and various other cultural and educational events. The festivities culminate in a festival featuring live music performances, delectable food options and community vendors.

The organization responsible for coordinating this event is known as the Center for Black Equity (CBE) formerly recognized as the International Federation of Black Prides. As a profit organization dedicated to supporting the well being and safety of Black lgbtq+Q+ individuals and their allies CBE strives to foster a global network comprising lgbtq+Q+ individuals from diverse backgrounds along with their allies and community based organizations. Their ultimate goal is to work towards achieving equality and social justice for Black lgbtq+Q+ people, through initiatives focused on equity, health equity and social equity.
DC Black Pride serves as a platform for Black lgbtq+Q+ individuals to not celebrate their identity but also work towards addressing health disparities combating social injustices and advocating for equal rights. This event draws in thousands of individuals from over the country and even around the world making it a significant gathering for the Black lgbtq+Q+ community.
