Exeter Pride, one of the most vibrant and well-attended lgbtq+Q+ celebrations in the South West of England, takes place annually in the historic city of Exeter. Typically held in the month of May, Exeter Pride is a week-long celebration filled with various activities, parties, and events designed to promote diversity, acceptance, and understanding of the lgbtq+Q+ community. It aims to bring people together in a fun, inclusive, and safe environment, while also raising awareness of lgbtq+Q+ issues and providing a platform for local talent.
The highlight of Exeter Pride is the colorful and lively Pride Parade. Participants, including local organizations, businesses, and individuals, gather at Sidwell Street and march through the city center, showcasing an array of colorful costumes, banners, and floats. The parade often includes live music, performances, and dancing, culminating in a gathering at Northernhay Gardens.
Northernhay Gardens serves as the main hub for Pride celebrations, hosting a variety of activities, such as a main stage with live music and entertainment, an information and community zone, food and drink vendors, a family zone, and a health and wellbeing zone. There's something for everyone, from workshops and panel discussions to drag performances and dance parties.
Exeter Pride is organized and run by a team of dedicated volunteers, supported by local businesses, community organizations, and individual donations. The event is free to attend, but donations are encouraged to help cover the costs of running the event and to support the work of the Exeter Pride committee throughout the year.
