The Jasper Pride Festival Society aims to organize a Pride Festival, in Jasper National Park showing support for the visiting lgbtq+QA (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning and Allies) community. Throughout the year we work on planning, hosting and raising funds to bring this festival and its associated events to our destination in the Rockies.
As Albertas Pride Celebration it stands out as the only Winter Pride Festival set in the Canadian Rocky Mountains. Taking place in March or early April each year it attracts visitors from all corners of the globe.
Since its establishment in 2009 this event has experienced growth. In 2013 a not for profit Society was formed with support, from Jaspers business community, Tourism Jasper and the Jasper Chamber of Commerce.
The Jasper Pride Festival Society aims to foster an environment of equality, acceptance and support, for the lgbtq+QA communities. Jasper is an inclusive community that attracts people from all walks of life including travelers, workers, students, ski enthusiasts and residents from around the world. This welcoming atmosphere is particularly favorable for the queer community, lgbtq+ travelers and the numerous couples who choose to get married in Jasper each year. You'll notice Pride stickers adorning the windows of businesses throughout Jasper. Its a tradition for our mayor to officially kick off our Pride Festival. Year marked a milestone when we raised the rainbow flag at our Fire Hall on International Day against Homophobia—an event that was recognized not only locally but also garnered attention from various media outlets across Canada and beyond. Our advocacy group OUT Jasper has long been a hub for the queer community. The lgbtq+Q friendliness of Jasper has earned recognition, across the country. Has been featured in both mainstream and alternative media sources.
