Mississippi’s premier lgbtq+Q+ celebration, the fifth annual It’s Pride Y’all Festival, returns to downtown Jackson on Saturday, September 20, 2025, under the vibrant theme “United We Shine.” Organized by MS Capital City Pride, this event has grown into the largest Pride festival in Mississippi, offering a full day of street festivities along North Congress Street in the heart of the state capital. Thousands of visitors, allies and families gather to celebrate progress and visibility for Mississippi’s lgbtq+Q+ communities. The festival is free and open to all and will feature live music, drag performers, local art and craft vendors, food trucks, community resource booths and a lively parade of floats and marchers. Guests can browse merchandise, sample regional cuisine, meet local organizations and dance to sets by talented DJs and musicians in an inclusive, family‑friendly environment. The festival’s bright colors, energetic atmosphere and message of unity create a joyous space for everyone to feel welcome. Festivities actually begin the night before with the VIP Kickoff Gala on Friday, September 19. This exclusive evening at Duling Hall invites guests to dress to impress and enjoy cocktails, comedy and music in an elegant setting. Headlining the gala is award‑winning comedian and singer Rita Brent, who began performing as a drummer at age 8 and has since opened for acts such as Cedric The Entertainer and performed at Caroline’s on Broadway. Joining her is DJ Citizen Jane, an internationally renowned DJ who blends house, Afro‑Latin and Top 40 dance hits to create infectious sets that keep dance floors moving. VIP guests enjoy reserved seating, an open bar, gourmet bites and a meet‑and‑greet with the performers. The gala sets the tone for an exciting weekend while raising funds to support MS Capital City Pride’s year‑round programs. The main festival on Saturday continues the celebration with a packed lineup of performers and special guests. Highlighted entertainers include Spikey Van Dykey, a high‑energy drag king famous for his spark‑grinder acts, pyrotechnic theatrics and edgy choreography, and N’spire Walker, a Mississippi artist who brings her passion for dance to the Pride stage and hosts community dance classes. Local drag queens and kings, musicians and dance troupes also take the stage throughout the day, reflecting the diversity of Mississippi’s queer communities. Attendees can watch dazzling performances, join dance contests and interact with community organizations dedicated to advocacy, health and social support. The festival’s family zone offers crafts and activities for children, while food trucks serve barbecue, catfish, vegan bites and sweet treats. Rain or shine, the afternoon and evening events ensure there is something for everyone, whether you want to join the dance floor or relax and people‑watch in the shade. To enhance the experience, MS Capital City Pride offers several premium packages. The VIP Weekend Pass grants access to the Friday night gala, a VIP bar and lounge area during Saturday’s festival, meet‑and‑greet opportunities with headliners and unlimited drinks all weekend. VIP add‑on packages include a festival T‑shirt and merchandise. For those seeking a more philanthropic role, the Host Committee Pass includes all VIP perks plus an exclusive cocktail party on September 13, unlimited drinks at all festival events, official recognition on festival signage and marketing and a host committee wristband. All proceeds help fund the festival and support year‑round advocacy. As Mississippi’s largest Pride celebration, It’s Pride Y’all Festival 2025 invites everyone—lgbtq+Q+ people, allies, families and friends—to come together, shine brightly and demonstrate that love and unity are stronger than prejudice. It’s a celebration of resilience, community and the vibrant culture that defines Jackson’s lgbtq+Q+ scene.
