Elia beach is the most popular beach for gay visitors to the Island. It is also one of the largest. The beach has great sand, sun beds and shades available for daily rent. As you look to the sea, the right hand side is gay. Look out for the rainbow flat. Beyond the sun loungers you will find a smaller bay where you will find even more gay sunbathers. It is also a popular nudist spot.
Arrive early if you want to get a good sun lounge with a front view. Food and drink is not cheap, but of good quality. The bar and restaurant is at the other end of the beach, but the waiters are very handsome so you can have food delivered right to your sun lounger. Ordering from the beach staff and a nice tip will secure your seat the next day.
One of the largest beaches on Mykonos island, Elia beach is the most lgbtq+ friendly and popular area on the island. This gorgeous sandy beach is well looked after with its many good quality sun beds and shades for rent.
Turn right as you head towards the beach and you will see a rainbow flag, this area gets increasingly popular with the lgbtq+ community.
Towards the end of the beach well beyond the rainbow flag past a rocky outcrop is a second hidden beach that is almost entirely for the lgbtq+ community with some nudism.
There is also a large open air beach restaurant located by the beach car park. The menu is full of delicious seafood and meat dishes, but its pricey.
Elia Beach is quite in the morning. People tend to arrive by noon and leave from 5pm to 7pm.
Buying food and drinks from the beach staff is a great way of securing front-row sun loungers reservations for the following day. There is also an excellent beach restaurant in the middle of the main beach, serving a wide selection of fish and meat dishes.
Neither the at-seat or dine-in option is cheap. So, bring your own water, cigarettes, etc. However, our beach attendant (Erick) was a bronzed, smooth-talking Greek hunk who had us ordering from his menu every hour or so.
Elia Beach is generally quiet in the morning with people arriving around lunchtime and leaving in the evening. After 5pm, the rocky area beyond the beaches becomes very cruisy. The only privacy is behind stone walls, and even then you are definitely taking chances with the exceptionally prickly bushes that cover the rocks.
