The Cuba Pride event in Havana is an significant celebration for the lgbtq+Q+ community in Cuba. It is. Supported by the Rainbow World Fund.
Rainbow World Fund has been making trips to Cuba since 2012 with a focus on education about Cubas history, politics and spirituality. During our visits we have the opportunity to learn from the people about their countrys realities. We visit projects that benefit the Cuban population and have engaging conversations with members of the lgbtq+Q+ community, church leaders, artists and professionals from different fields. Our aim is to gain insights into history—from its colonial past to its present revolution—and understand how the complex relationship between the U.S. And Cuba continues to evolve. Throughout our visit we witness firsthand both the struggles and aspirations of the people. Our itinerary includes visits to clinics programs assisting elderly individuals, art institutions, schools as well as other historically significant cultural landmarks. One of the highlights of our trip is actively participating in Havanas lgbtq+Q+ Pride celebrations.
History of Cuba Pride;
According to Havana Times report in 2019 there was a march advocating for lgbtq+IQ+ rights along Prado Avenue in Havana. This event demonstrated a sense of community spirit and activism—an embodiment of ongoing efforts for lgbtq+Q+ rights, in Cuba.
In 2018 Cuba hosted another parade to stand against homophobia as reported by Havana Times. These parades are known for their displays, public gatherings and a joyful atmosphere despite the difficulties faced by the lgbtq+Q+ community in the country. One remarkable example is the Cuban Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia which focuses on fighting discrimination while promoting acceptance and equality.
It's worth mentioning that the lgbtq+Q+ rights movement in Cuba has encountered obstacles and limitations over time. Nevertheless the community demonstrates resilience and pride through these events making them not occasions for celebration but also opportunities for advocacy and raising awareness about lgbtq+Q+ issues, in Cuba.
