  • One of the liked gay friendly beaches in Cape Town is Clifton 3rd Beach. It's a destination with its crystal clear waters, soft sandy shores and stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean. This picturesque spot has been adored by both locals and tourists for a time.

Situated in the residential area of Clifton this beach is part of a quartet known as 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th beaches. Each beach has its distinct ambiance and attracts diverse crowds but they all offer magnificent views and an exceptional beach experience.

Among these four beaches Cliftons 3rd beach has become known as a favored hangout for the community over time often unofficially referred to as a "gay beach". However it's important to mention that while popular within the lgbtq+Q+ community Clifton 3rd Beach remains open and welcoming to everyone. It stands as a symbol of inclusivity where individuals of all orientations and backgrounds can gather to unwind soak up the sun and appreciate Cape Towns beauty.

The vibe, at Clifton 3rd Beach is generally relaxed and hospitable.
Sun seekers often pack picnic baskets to savor while soaking up the rays and as dusk falls you may spot groups huddling around portable grills (referred to locally as 'braais). It's not unusual to witness matches of beach volleyball or frisbee in action.

It's important to mention that Cliftons beaches, including the one, lack amenities like restrooms or food stalls. Therefore it's advisable to come prepared with any essentials for the day. Additionally due to the beach facing westward it can get quite breezy in the afternoons; thus arriving earlier in the day is a move if feasible.

In terms of accessibility Clifton 3rd Beach can be accessed by descending a flight of steps from the road. Parking space on Victoria Road is limited so getting there early or utilizing a taxi or rideshare service might be your bet.

Although Clifton 3rd Beach is known as a hangout, for the lgbtq+Q+ community it's also a place where respect and acceptance are deeply cherished. It offers a setting to bask in the Cape Town sunshine mingle with new faces and relish the beach within a secure and inviting atmosphere.
Sandy Bay Beach is situated close to Llandudno on the Atlantic Seaboard of Cape Town, South Africa. It is known as a beach and a welcoming spot for the lgbtq+Q+ community although its not exclusively a gay beach.

Getting to Sandy Bay Beach involves a bit of an adventure requiring a 20 minute walk from the parking area. The hike adds to the charm of the beach offering seclusion and privacy that many other beaches lack. The path is well marked winding through fynbos scrub with stunning views of the coastline and ocean.

Upon arrival you'll be met with the unspoiled beauty of Sandy Bay. The soft white sand stretches out against a backdrop of mountains and the vast Atlantic Ocean. Natural rocky cliffs, on either side provide protection from the wind that often blows across Cape Towns beaches. The ocean though truly stunning can feel quite chilly because of the current and there are no lifeguards on the beach so it's best to be careful when swimming. Since there are no facilities don't forget to bring along water, snacks and sunscreen for your trip.

Even though Sandy Bay is in a location it's a social spot. It's typical to see people walking by the shore chatting or sunbathing. The laid back and welcoming vibe creates an environment for self expression and forming connections. There are beach gatherings at the bay where you can mingle with locals and tourists alike.

It's important to note that while Sandy Bay is known as an lgbtq+Q friendly beach it welcomes everyone. Showing respect towards all visitors regardless of their lifestyle choices is crucial. The beach has a culture of acceptance and inclusivity that guests should honor during their time there.

As night falls the sunsets at Sandy Bay are truly spectacular. Watching the sun disappear below the horizon while painting the sky in shades of orange, pink and purple marks a conclusion, to a day spent at one of Cape Towns most distinctive beaches.
One important point to mention is that Sandy Bay forms part of the Table Mountain National Park, a protected area. Visitors are encouraged to help preserve the beauty of the beach by following the 'leave no trace' principle. Taking any trash back home and respecting the local plants and animals.

    Camps Bay Beach

Although not specifically designated as a beach Camps Bay Beach is a fashionable and upscale location popular among both locals and tourists including members of the lgbtq+Q+ community. It boasts an expanse of white sandy shore flanked by palm trees and set against the stunning backdrop of the Twelve Apostles mountain range. The beach is in proximity to various stylish bars and restaurants enhancing its appeal, as a sought after destination.
