Art museum for the here and now The most hip of the Nationalgalerie's six Berlin outlets, this converted 19th-century train station combines striking neoclassical detail with a modern sensibility. The building was last a terminal in 1884, and its reincarnation in 1996 as museum/gallery specialising in works since 1960 has given Berlin a contemporary-art outpost with iconic status. Names names names: Joseph Beuys, Andy Warhol, Robert Rauschenberg, Anselm Kiefer, Sigmar Polke, Cy Twombly, Walton Ford, Rebecca Horn, Paul McCarthy, Fritz Rahmann, Marcel Broodthaers, John Cage and, among many others, Dan Flavin, whose last ever work floods the front exterior in blue and green light. Opens late Thursday, as with other Berlin museums. U-Bahn/S-Bahn: Hauptbahnhof. U-Bahn: Naturkundemuseum.
