Hotspot Description:
The art of sleeping A serious novelty hotel of 50 uniquely designed, decorated and furnished singles, doubles and suites, each conceived by a contemporary artist, some pastiche-like (Warhol, Van Gogh), others not. Housed in a carefully restored neoclassical building from 1825, the hotel opened in 1995 as an authentic Berlin artists’ project, remodeled itself in 1998/9 and added an extension in 2003. Location is super central though not gay-specific, within easy reach of the Reichstag, the Spree river, Unter den Linden and the Brandenburg Gate. Not too pricey either. 'Kunst' translates as 'Art' in German. U-Bahn: Brandenburger Tor.
