The Queens Pride Parade and Multicultural Festival holds the distinction of being the oldest and second largest pride parade in New York City. It was established back in 1993. Takes place every year on the first Sunday of June right in the heart of Jackson Heights.
Daniel Dromm along with Maritza Martinez as co chair founded this parade with the purpose of increasing visibility for the lgbtq+Q community in Queens while also honoring Julio Rivera, a resident of Jackson Heights. Queens is widely recognized as a transgender hub, in the Western hemisphere and boasts incredible ethnic diversity making it one of the most culturally rich urban areas worldwide.
